  • associated with rapidly fatal malignant hypertension
  • vascular damage to arterioles and small arteries
  • Pathology
    • fibrinoid necrosis (flea bitten kidney)
    • hyperplastic arteriosclerosis (onion skin)
  • Clinical
    • BP increases over 210
    • could get celebral edema
    • papilledema
    • retinopathy
    • treat with intravenous nitroprusside
